FIRST APPEARANCE:
Earth 2 #2 (August 2012)

Three years after the "wonders" of this Earth were wiped out by the forces of Apokolips, a new age of heroes began. At that time, Kendra Munoz-Saunders was a treasure hunter whose skills were employed by the World Army for a mission to Egypt. There she and Khalid Ben-Hassin underwent mystical transformations. While Ben-Hassin discovered magic that would make him Dr. Fate, Kendra was transformed against her will and emerged from it with functional, biological wings. (Earth 2 #9) The details about her wings' origins remain uncertain.

After her transformation, Hawkgirl went AWOL and ran from the World Army. At some point she donned a uniform and helmet and fashioned herself as Hawkgirl.

Kendra revealed herself to other heroes in Poland, where she helped the new Flash escape from her former employers, the World Army. (Earth 2 #2) She was battle ready and tested his abilities, besting him fairly easily. Before long they encountered the force that would draw them together with other wonders: Grundy, avatar of the fetid Grey. (#3)

Grundy brought his war to Washington D.C., where Kendra met former Army buddy, Al Pratt. Pratt was also now super-powered and serving the World Army as the Atom. His mission was to reclaim Kendra for the Army, but he was sidetracked by the battle with Grundy. Hawkgirl protested vehemently that she would never go back with him. (#4)

They worked together with Green Lantern to destroy the monster, and afterwards the Flash suggested that they band together, but Green Lantern roundly rejected the notion. (#6) Kendra visited Lantern's (Alan Scott's) home to challenge him again. This time she demonstrated her marksmanship by shooting his ring right out from under him with her crossbow. Before Scott could react, she'd gone. (#7)

At home in New Orleans with her arsenal, and hosting Khalid Ben-Hassin. From Earth 2 #9 (2012); art by Nicola Scott and Trevor Scott.

Before long, Green Lantern had a change of heart. In order to solve the murder of his partner, he needed Hawkgirl's help, and sought her out in New Orleans. (#10)

Notes

James Robinson on Hawkgirl:

"Hawkgirl is going to rise to the occasion. Remembering back to the days that Hawkman and Hawkgirl were in "Detective Comics" and everything else, she is not only a kick ass warrior, she's also the greatest detective of Earth 2." (CBR)

Powers

Hawkgirl is a military trained combatant. She is especially skilled in hand-to-hand combat and marksmanship. She uses a crossbow and is known to have used guns and knives in the past. Hawkgirl can fly with the use of her mystically-acquired wings.
