Classic Photography was printed on a semi-gloss paper. Contained relatively little advertising, but that plus semi-gloss paper boosted its cover price to 50 cents. Each issue had three sections of "nude studies."
The inaugural issue posed the question: "Who takes great picture?" then answered, "A sensitive man in a well-equipped studio … the man—or woman—who patrols a newsbeat … the parent who takes a child to the park." Most issues began with a serious and sensitive look at a very human subject then transitioned smoothly into nudes that were annotated with very technical photographic information such as aperture and speed settings.
